The 3rd Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday, means Rejoice in Latin. We Rejoice because we are almost to the birth of Christ, there is 1 more candle to light next week! The 2nd Reading for today says it perfectly:

Reading II

Phil 4:4-7

Brothers and sisters:
Rejoice in the Lord always.
I shall say it again:  rejoice!
Your kindness should be known to all.
The Lord is near.
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
make your requests known to God.
Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

I love that today Our Lady of Guadalupe is the same day as the 3rd Sunday of Advent! So much celebrating and Rejoicing! Mary appeared to Juan Diego as an expectant Mother; which this time of the year is how we should see Our Mother Mary; soon the Savior will be born!

Some points to meditate on and ponder as we journey together toward Christmas!

Are we on the journey with Mary and Joseph as the time grows near? While they might not know about the upcoming mandate to return to your family’s home; they do know the Messiah is to be born in Bethlehem. Are they pondering how God will bring this about. Yet they trust!

I also love Our Lady of Guadalupe’s words to St. Juan Diego so many years ago. They still ring true for us today; hundred of years later!

My prayers are with you as we journey through the next 2 weeks of this Advent Season! Please pray for me as well!
