Thank you to all Father’s out there on this Father’s Day!  Also to our Priests, our Spiritual Father’s, who bring us God’s gifts of the Sacraments!

Some of us are broken in relationship to our earthly Father.  When we are broken in relationship to our earthly Father we tend to see God the Father as a stern old man frowning down at us, someone who is ready to condemn us for all the wrong we have done.  God the Father loves us more then we can imagine! Jesus and Mary will slowly help us heal and when we are healed enough will guide us in coming to know and love Our Father in Heaven!  He loves us so much that we read: For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Jn. 3:16

I am thankful for my daddy, has been in heaven for a while!  He helped me see what a good Father God is by being a Father, not just to me but to others as well!

The Gospel reading for this Sunday:

GospelLK 9:18-24

Once when Jesus was praying by himself,
and the disciples were with him,
he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
They said in reply, “John the Baptist;
others, Elijah;
still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’”
Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said in reply, “The Christ of God.”
He scolded them
and directed them not to tell this to anyone.He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.”

Then he said to all,
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”

The Gospel of the Lord!  Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ!
I’m going to focus on the last paragraph.
Jesus says to “Take up His cross daily and follow me”.  That is not easy, it means we don’t follow the ways of the world, but the ways of Christ.  The cross, while painful always leads to the Resurrection!
Many people get lost in today’s world, things that are wrong are said to be right and vise versa.  We think we are doing OK because we are living the way the world says to live, pornography, greed, selfishness, promiscuity,etc… yet we are miserable!  In part because these behaviors cause us to have health problems emotionally, physically and spiritually.  Granted other things can cause us to have physical and emotional problems, but these behaviors don’t help them any.
When we mention something is wrong people tend to say, but he/she is a good person!  Maybe so, but the action is still wrong, when we live the way the world says we lose our peace, our life, our joy.
When we live by morals, values and put God first in our life, it makes us look different.  Especially if we are raising children and are teaching them morals and values, and that we center our week around the Lord’s Day.  This is what helps us to gain Eternal Life,  it also brings happiness, peace and joy.  It helps us to be healthy physically, spiritually and emotionally.  Granted we might still have health problems, and trauma’s happen to all of us, but we have a focus that gets us through.
Have a great week!
