Happy and Blessed Solemnity of Jesus!
Gospel MT 3:13-17
Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan
to be baptized by him.
John tried to prevent him, saying,
“I need to be baptized by you,
and yet you are coming to me?”
Jesus said to him in reply,
“Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us
to fulfill all righteousness.”
Then he allowed him.
After Jesus was baptized,
he came up from the water and behold,
the heavens were opened for him,
and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove
and coming upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens, saying,
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
I love witnessing Baptism’s! It is so wonderful to see babies, children and adults join the Family of God!
My own Baptism many years ago was in Jan. the Sunday after this Sunday @ St. Mary’s in Bellevue NE.!
Today ends the Christmas Season. The children are bummed to see the Christmas decorations taken down, especially the little house that is decorated and lights up! (we put them away yesterday)
Tomorrow begins Ordinary Time, and its color is green! It is by no means ordinary! It is a time for growing in our faith life and to practice using all the gifts we received during the feast to help us live our Christian life!
