I thought I would write a bit on my reflections on the topic of life.  Scripture tells us that

God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female* he created them. Gen. 1:27  and again:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you. Jer. 1:5

I could quote several others, but just these two tell us that all life is precious in God’s eyes, from the moment of conception to natural death.  It is important to reach out to the pregnant woman to offer her choices other then abortion.  It is not just the baby that is harmed in abortion, it is also the mother and father. (just ask anyone who has been through project Rachel)

Even when a child is allowed to live, I have ministered to children who wish they were dead, they were treated so badly.  I’ve had children under 10 years say they wished their parents had killed them.  It is beautiful to see that child heal, to see a purpose to his or her life, to begin to realize he or she is special to someone as well as to God!

Also our elderly, many times they are put away and forgotten because the family is too busy these days.  In any age various illnesses are not seen as a way to offer up for the salvation of someone else.

Life is important at all stages, from the little baby in the womb, to the sick and elderly.  Being pro life doesn’t just mean stopping abortion, that is one big part, but also how we treat people in general.

How do we treat people we live with, those we work and pray with, those we don’t know?  Do we offer a smile and a hello?

There are many branches to the areas I touched on and will speak on them a little bit here and there also.

In the mean time let us pray for the protection of all life from the moment of conception to natural death!

(John Paul the Great has an encyclical “The Gospel of Life” that is great)  Several years ago when I was house parent at a home for pregnant teens, the teen age daughter of one of the other house parents was asking me about life topics as she was writing on life for high school speech competition(public, she was christian) I offered to let her read “The Gospel of Life” and she thought it was great, used many quotes from it and her topic took 1st place!  Of course our currant Pope Francis also speaks and acts on Life in wonderful ways!

Yea, for all of those who were able to attend the March for Life in DC!  For those of us who were not able to go in person, try to join in one near you!  We hope to join the Pro Life Mass and Nebraska right to life March in Lincoln this Saturday!
